Spookspruit 4x4 Trail

A challenging guided 4x4 trail and rustic camping facility in the Suikerbosrand koppies!

About Us

Spookspruit 4x4 Trail is a guided eco trail with challenging natural obstacles that increase in difficulty as you progress on the trail. The operator and creator of the trail, Johan Havenga comes from a precision driving background and implemented the experience gained as a Bridgestone Fundi marshal and competitor in creating and maintaining this trail.

The trail is situated on private farmland nestled between game farms on the southern slopes of the Suikerbosrand. The farm is rich in history dating back to the first settlers in the area and the Anglo Boer War.

You will experience a vast array of obstacles ranging from the infamous mud pit to steep turf inclines, some water wading in the riverbed (depending on season) and rocky outcrops. Obstacles are graded from 2 to 5 and all obstacles of 3 and above safe detours. The grade 5 obstacles are in addition to the trail and is not compulsory to conquer to proceed on the trail. Also, most obstacles have a back loop should you wish to try a different approach and line on the obstacle.

At the camping site we have 14 stands with 220V electricity, ablutions with hot (donkey) running water, a sparkling pool and a playpark for the kids. The camping site is accessible to all types of vehicles and caravans. We also have a hall and cater for club events and club dinners.

Hiking

The farm also has a variety of hiking trails and is a bird watchers paradise. Mountain bikes are allowed but no 2-wheel or 4-wheel motorbikes are allowed.
